big news : the big d

I suppose I'm going to have to change the name of this blog soon. You see my friends, we are moving to Dallas. Let me back up… T finished grad school back in May so we left Greenville and moved back home. We've spent the last few months here, happy, but up in the air on our future plans. I've been busy with Tenn Hens and he's been busy searching and Moosh has just been plain busy. All of our belongings have been waiting patiently in storage. {side note : I have these crazy dreams that the folks from "storage wars" are going to show up at our unit, b/c we've forgotten to pay our bill, and buy off all our stuff - yikes! } Anyway, it's honestly been a little hard, but we've been positive and tried to make the best out of it. Besides, we've been home with all our friends and family.

A job that has been in the works for quite a while has finally panned out and that means we are headed to Texas. Whoa! We're a little sad to be leaving home and always thought we'd stay here, but life has picked another path for us. It's a great opportunity so I'm thrilled for T - he deserves it! And we will create a great little world around us wherever we are. So… if you know anybody in Dallas tell 'em I need some friends. Just kidding. Not really. The stressful part is we have to find a place to live in a town we know nothing about. Wish me luck 'cause we're heading down there this weekend to do just that. At least we get to stay put through the holidays while he works in the local office and get our fill of everything + everyone here. That's my big news for now so stay tuned and if anyone out there has any Dallas tips I am all ears! xo

  5. I just tried to post a comment but somehow messed it up. You do not know me from Adam but I enjoy reading your blog! We moved to Dallas from Atlanta 18 months ago. I cried when we moved here for my husband's job. It is mighty flat, the trees are small and it is far from home. But I found I really like Texans. People here are so kind and welcoming. They are also down to earth and very entreprenurial. I sometimes think Dallas combines the best of the South and West. The economy is doing so much better here than in Georgia. We are older than y'all. Our boys are ages 10, 7 and 2. They were in private school in GA. We lived in the city of ATL - in Buckhead. When we moved here we moved near SMU bc we heard the public schools were good. You do not need to base your location on schools and may want somewhere younger and funkier than Highland Park/University Park. In the Park Cities lots are tiny and prices are so much more than Atlanta but there is an amazing sense of community here. Our elementary school has an amazingly organized group for moms of preschoolers - they have play groups, moms night out, parties... You can see more info about it at www.uppa.org. I now feel like we moved to a good spot - but it took me awhile to figure that out! :-) Keeley

  6. Just read in the Dallas paper about a home tour in Lakewood - a part of Dallas. It looks like a good area. You might want to check it out online. Keeley

  9. Buns - what BIG news! I have a ton of Vandy friends that live in Dallas. Some live in Highland Park/Univ Park near SMU. It's kind of like the Mtn. Brook bubble in Bham. Others grew up there and aren't quite ready to make the HP/UP purchase so they are in surrounding areas. I'm happy to ask around for ya. I'll put you in touch with some of them when you get there. AND I'll come see you in February when I'm headed to Dallas for a wedding!
