adventures in baby food
I may change my tune, but for now I'm making all of Mimers baby food. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I rather like it. And let's be honest, it's not that hard. She opens her mouth like a baby bird and I swoop in with a bite. Some ends up on her face and comes squishing out her lips, but for the most part we're getting the hang if it.
On the menu so far…pears, apples, banannas, avacado, sweet potatoes, carrots, prunes, and peas. Baby nugget pretty much likes it all. And to give me some inspiration I've been checking out baby food recipes online here.
Next up… buying a high-chair. I love the wooden swiss one, but it looks like it would be hard on a baby bum & it doesn't have a tray. Otherwise, I like some of the modern ones, but they may look a tad out of place in our house. Any recommendations out there?

I am going to start making Collins' food. Have been planning on it for a couple of months now--- but it's time to try it.
ReplyDeleteI have a painted jenny lind high chair- but it's too big for Collins. I have just been using the bumbo. I think that I am going to buy a high chair from Ikea. All of my friends love them and say they are small and easy to clean.
She is precious. I am impressed that you are making her food. That is awesome.
ReplyDeleteAHHH- Bonnie she is ADORABLE! Look at her cuteness eating in her bumpo. Love it! How time consuming is it to make her food?
ReplyDeleteso we have something else in common! i have the babycook, too, and love it. I made most of Charlie's food and just cooked up a bunch of batches for Natalie during the snow. Our freezer is full of all sorts of yummy delights for her now. I wanted my babies to eat organic as much as possible, and it's way way cheaper to make it. I find it doesn't take long at all, esp. with the babycook because it basically does the work for you. Plus you have a large quantity to stick in the freezer so it lasts a long time. I have a couple of cookbooks you're welcome to borrow if you want, and on my blog there are links to a couple of good websites on the right hand side. We'll chat about it! Oh, and as far as high chairs, we never had room for one in our bungalow, so we went straight from the Bumbo to one of those cheap Fisher Price boosters w/ a tray (they attach to a chair.) We loved it because we could travel with it, too. Charlie just moved out of it into a normal booster seat, so we're going to start using it for Natalie shortly.
ReplyDeletewe have the svan & it's great because it's small. Only problem is the price (over 300 with cushion & tray cover). my parents have the ikea one & it's great. the other cheap and small seat is the fisher price one that straps onto a chair- super easy to clean, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks yall. She's still in the bumbo for now, but I definitely need an alternative soon. Too bad we don't have an Ikea! I'm dying to go there.
ReplyDeleteWe've got the Boon flair and it's fantastic! I highly recommend it! I'm making all of my BabyGirl's food as well. She's just a little younger at 6.5 months and doesn't really care for much besides bananas!
